I took the GMC out to exercise it and top off the tank. When I fill the GMC as it approaches full it starts to drip from somewhere behind the wheel well. It is not a huge concern, but I was wondering if this was a known issue before I start poking around.

Dan,

You didn't say Which wheel well.
If it is the right, that is wet fuel dripping out of your carbon canister. It means the vapor valve in the left rear wheel well is screwed up. (traditional)
If it is the left, then probably the rubber line of the fill vent system has rotted out. It is a PITA because some of the line is behind the left side cockpit panel.

Matt,

Drivers side. I knew there were some lines back there that did not get to.

Dan,

I had my coach at JimKs a number of years ago. I didn't pay a great deal of attention as I was recovering from surgery, but they cut a little door in the wall to the left and behind the driver's seat. It is in the column that goes up the wall. They asked before they did it and made a very clean plate that covers it. From that spot they could get to the hose.

I sort of like the idea as if I should ever need to get to the hose I can open the plate and have access. If you want I could take a picture of the location. You can ask me at:

Mine did the same thing. I had a receipt showing the PO had all the fuel lines replaced, but I went ahead and ordered all new ethanol-resistant lines. Most of what I took out looked fine, but I found that whoever did the work left one larger-diameter piece of tubing just a foot or so long in place - and of course, that's what failed. After replacing the lines, I can now fill up at full flow - partially due to the fact the PO also replaced the body pads, so no vent lines are pinched or crushed.

If it is the left REAR wheel well, then most likely it is a cracked vapor separator. They can be repaired, or replaced relatively easily. They are available from Jim K or from Corvette restoration suppliers.
