Has anyone used this setup or maybe something similar as a shift indicator?

I lost mine when I went to a GPS speedo. I know what gear its in, but some day I may sell it on and it would be a good feature to have.
Thought once about using the setup off an old Chevy Van, that sat on top of the column.
Thanks.

Does it have a way to dim at night?
