I tell this because we all hate to hold up production because of our ancient machines...

I was getting four new Toyo tires. (I am sure that we could argue about the foolishness of this purchase because they may cause the front bumper to turn purple with yellow spots but I had 46K miles on the four I was replacing.)

I have Sully type bags from JimK.

I gave careful instructions at to how to lift the coach and how I would need to put air back in so they could get the jacks out. After the tires and wheels were back on I noticed they had let the jacks down. I jumped in and gave my J.R. Slaten valves a twist and the right side started coming up instantly. The left side didn't move. I got out and they had managed to jerk the jack out. I went in again and twisted my knobs. On raise I heard no hissing. If I turned to lower I got one puff of air and nothing.

I left it on raise and went back out and looked. It was sitting almost on the ground. Finally we decided to try to wedge the floor jack back under. He got it in a bit and as soon as it went up for a tiny bit air started hissing and up it came.

My theory is that the bag had collapsed so far it was covering the air fitting inside, stopping the air. Sounds silly to me, because if I needed to plug up 120 lbs. of air I could never do it. But with it on raise the moment the jack moved the coach 1/2" it started hissing and it came right up.

Just another reason to have an outside air valve that connects to the bags
so they can be aired up with an outside air source; what would you have
done if the jack couldn't get under the frame?? I have the JimK four
bagger and I put an air valve extender to one of the ports in his air
manifold; ran the extender thru the side of the skirt. Now I don't have to
reach inside to find the air valve (it's still there, so I have two "air
up" points). If my camera worked and I knew how to put pictures in the GMC
photo site, I'd do it. JWID.

Jerry,

Your point is well taken. I have the schrader and valve at the bag. I am not sure air would have gone in. To pep up the process the shop was injecting air at the tank in front. He stopped when the coach compressor stopped... 120 lbs. and the coach on that side just was squatting. The J. R. Slaten valve really moves air so I probably let too much air out. In fact I think I had left it on lower. Next time I will make sure I start some air before they start to lower the rear. When I jack it for some reason I always put air in and "catch" the coach as it comes down off the jack.

No no no no, Toyo tires AND Sully bags cause the front bumper to turn yellow with purple stripes and it will definitely clash with your paint scheme.

George,

I thought the bags Sully recommends to use with his setup has internal bump stops. What brand and part number did you use?
