I'm in the process of installing electric wipers and have run into an issue. It seems the wiper linkage from the passenger side hits the master cylinder cover. It's probably just 'operator' error but it's not an obvious problem. Maybe the linkage arm was bent removing it? That seems a little unlikely as the arm is quite robust. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Hal,
You should be able to pretty easily bend the linkage up far enough to clear
even a P-30 MC cover. Just be careful not to go too far -- at Patterson I
had to un-bend Frank Jenkins' link a bit to stop a squeak when it hit one
of the hood hinge screws.

I have the p30 mc and I had to bend the passenger arm up a little for it
clear; I just finished installing Henderson's electric wiper system and I
have the linkage arm turning off the motor hitting one of the motor
mounting bolts; just a little click each time it turns around. I think I
will grind a little on the bolt head.

Jerry,
IIRC, there's a little of the ball joint stud extending through the nut
beneath the motor arm; you may want to grind that instead of your motor
bolt head -- even if it does take a couple more minutes. :-)
If I had the option, I'd have a little more rise built into the motor arms
-- but it's a stock item that I have modified very slightly by the supplier
and then a little more by my machinist; changing the basic part would be
more expensive than we want to pay. Especially since only a few folks
encounter the conflict.

Nick,
That's a NEAT mod -- I can't figure how I missed it when Tom Lins posted it.
If you bought a junk yard motor, you should remove the black plastic rear
cover and check the 5 solder joints where the connector pins come through
the printed circuit board. They're notorious for cracking. Just touching
each with a hot soldering iron may be all the fix you need.
Even new motors are not immune to problems -- At Patterson, Paul Doane
reported that his high speed wasn't working on the motor he'd bought new.
To be sure it wasn't a wiring problem, we substituted the motor from my
demonstrator and it worked OK. So, his out-of-warranty motor was bad from
the start.
