G'day,

Cancelled the order for this SeaFlo macerator:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEAFLO-Brand-Marine-and-RV-Macerator-Pump-12-Volts-/151611259988

and ordered this SeaFlo macerator:

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/161575965374

The order was changed because the latter is a "quick disconnect" unit which will reduce work required to replace it when combined
with a plug in connection for power.

It is being sent to Australia so I can disassemble it to:

1) compare it to the Jabsco here
2) modify it to include a way of turning the shaft
3) come up with a way to make the mounting QD as well

Regards,
Rob M.

Well Guys,

I tried to post the pictures to the GMC gallery, but it crashed. Maybe because the pictures are too big. It is a new camera and I don't yet know everything I need to know about it. But if you want to see the non-quick disconnect version, pick up this link to my dropbox. They will be though 05 April 2015.

Espen,

There is no "regular 4 pin coupling".
There are Thetford, Valtera, Camco, Blue Line and someone I have forgotten. Thetford is the white fittings used on original GMC. Thetford connections are not interchangeable with anybodies. The later four are sort of interchangeable on a single part case.

I think you better plan on using the mating part that comes with the pump.

Matt,

Thanks!

I'll bet dollars to donuts that I will be able to remove the rear cover on the motor and put a slot in the end of the armature's
shaft to turn it if it gets stuck.

eBay has advised mine has been shipped.

Regards,
Rob M.

Guys,

I ordered the model with the "regular 4 pin coupling" because it will act as a QUICK DISCONNECT.

The mating part that comes with the pump will become part of the permanent installation.

I'll attach a two pin connector to the GMC supply and a mating part to the macerator.

Hopefully I can come up with a way to mount the feet so it too can be detached without tools.

If the unit seizes or fails I can remove and replace it in a heartbeat when I do something stupid like putting paper towels down the
loo! ;-)

Regards,
Rob M.

WOW!
5.4mb ea, 4608 X 3456 pixels X 16 million colors X 7 photos = ~38mb upload.

Yep, you got some trimming to do. The photo archive does get tired of
waiting.

To upload or attach reasonable size photos, I use:
http://www.onthegosoft.com/shrink_pic.htm?
It works very well and is seamless.

Matt,
I typically shoot in a 640 X 480 resolution (almost all pictures that I have loaded over the years) or it may be called small or the next size called M3 which is 1600 X 1200 pixels resolution. These 2 sizes make very good pictures that will load on the photo size. Your resolution is probably in L (large) which makes for a very large resolution (size). Your going to need to rescale the pictures down to a much smaller size. Your camera may allow you to resize and save the new picture. The higher resolution doesn’t make the pictures any better, just takes up more space. As a Mac using I can resize with the Preview program, not being a PC user, there are some free programs that will allow you to shrink resolution down.

I always shoot in the highest possible resolution. That way, I can later
decide if I want to cut stuff out of the picture, have the picture
printed on a large scale printer, or scale it down to send it via mail.
You never know, when a picture might be perfect for a situation other
than just mail. Shooting at 640x480 makes you loose the ability to print
larger than a small photo.

G'day,

For those of you that use Microsoft products they have a program called Microsoft Picture Manager (MPM) that does simple photo
editing such as brightness & contrast adjustment, color adjustment, cropping, rotate & flip, red eye removal, resizing, and
compressing,

I did a Google search and it came up with the site below to download it. If you do decide to download it be careful to check that
MPM is all you download. A lot of these free download sites lump a bunch of crap you don't want in with the main download!

Win:

With a million downloads per month, Irfanview is the big dog but it's probably overkill for just resizing.

Faststone has some paid programs that are popular, I see they have a separate resizer. The UI looks intuitive, too.

http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm

BTW, reducing your jpg Color Depth to 256 as well as resizing can make additional, substantial reduction in size.

Billy,

It is a new camera. (Three days now.) It turns out that the half-life of complex cameras is about five years, so the old one did OK. It just started to do strange things while I was shooting daughter's baby shower. Glad this didn't happen in Yellowstone.
I always shoot at the highest resolution unless I am shooting to up load, then I turn it down or post-process.
There in is the problems. My usual post-process package choked on the file size and I haven't figured out how to turn this camera down yet.

I'm only about half way through the 200+ page manual. I still don't know how to make a phone call or program it to start the morning coffee. I'll get there before Rapid City.
