Hi Do you have a link to that?
I checked their site and they only show a fresh water pump for 99.99.
Macerators are a lot higher.

Loffen,

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that mascerator is the same as this one:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g6005-macerator-innards.html

Except it is a newer model and has a four bladed chopper!

I just ordered two (2) of them for spares.

No way!

I'm trying to figger out how to say what I want to say without insulting Mexico and Mexicans and making a generalization but here
goes. If I do I apologize in advance.

There is no way that Mexico or Mexicans will ever achieve the design, engineering, and manufacturing level of Japan. The Japanese
are world leaders when it comes to that. They were helped to achieve that status by an American by the name of Dr. D.W. Deming.

Espen,

Brilliant!

I reckon ALL of us are "full of it" from time to time and Double Trouble with this macerator has handled it without any problems
since I've owned it.

I do recommend buying two units in case you do something dumb without thinking; like dumping a couple wadded up paper towels in the
toilet!

Yes I did that! DOUH!

That required removing, disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, and reinstalling the macerator; a real PITA! ;-)

Regards,
Rob M.

I have seen some of the $69 and $99 ones before and the ones that I have examined differ a bit from the Jabsco one (more expensive one).
There might not be a screwdriver slot in the exposed end of the motor shaft that is very useful in case of a clog.
They may not have the Viton (I believe that is what its made of) impeller that the Jabsco one has. If it is run dry too long then the impeller might start to spread.
The seals might not be as good.

I bought one once and had all of the problems above. The brush holder also overheated and distorted so the pump would not run. There was no replacement parts available.
So, I bought two Jabsco pumps and carry one as a spare. The first one has lasted very well and I haven’t had to install the spare yet.
Prior to that I had to crawl up under while at a campground and take the pump apart to get it to run well enough to get home. When I got home I threw it away.

Sometimes its better to pay $30 more to get the top of the line one. Especially considering the amount of s__tty work to repair or replace it. The old saying “you get what you pay for”.

Emery,

Thanks for posting the info below; obviously I was not aware of what you have noted.

I am back in Sydney and since the units I ordered included FOC shipping in the USA they will be going to John Sharpe in Humble,
Texas.

I will not be able to disassemble and compare them to the spare Jabsco unit I have there until I get back to the USA in September.

I suggest that anyone interested in one of the SeaFlo pumps do not just follow my lead and buy one; I would suggest you take what
Emery has noted into consideration and compare the information provided in the links below.

Read the rest on your own.....

I will be installing a 56$ Seaflow in a clients boat. I will also be installing a diverter valve (3-way), because this is a GL boat and there is no place on the Great Lakes that untreated holding (black) tank can be discharged overboard. The system will be complete and tested with clean water and then locked as using such equipment is a felony in Canada.

Important:
Country of origin is not marked on the packaging or the pump itself. (I just checked.)
The pump has no provision to hand crank to clear it.
I am not sure it I would buy one of these for my own use over a Jabsco, Raritan or Johnson. While I know that parts may (will) not be available. The fractional price makes replacement an easy option. The rebuild kit for a Jabsco would cost more.

Passing note:
Ed Deming was an associate of my father during WWII in the Arsenal For Democracy. He tried real hard to sell statistical quality control as opposed to inspection here at home. He failed. After the war, he was stationed in Japan to help reconstruct their economy. (No jokes about Detroit - please) They grabbed up and ran with his SPC (statistical Process Control) ideas, and when they developed the technology, they stopped making junk.
