My 1978 Rear Bath Royal has some wall coverings that have come lose, particularly in the bathroom. The tub and shower area is covered in a vinyl wallpaper like material and it has started to come loose, especially near the seams. Underneath the vinyl is plywood or lauan/plywood. I'm not sure what the best product would be to "glue" down the loose vinyl wallpaper and install new vinyl wallpaper on Lauan or plywood?
It doesn't seem like regular wallpaper paste would be the thing to use. I was thinking Contact Cement. I removed a whole piece from the side of the vanity and it looked like contact cement.
Any thoughts, opinions, or ideas would be appreciated.

Steve, I wasted a lot of time and money on the big box adhesives, spray and brush. Did them all and they all came loose. Finally went to an upholstery shop and asked what they used. I bought a gallon from them. It is Weldwood Landeau and Vinyl Top adhesive. This stuff looks and smells JUST like the stuff you buy at Home Depot/Lowes but it's not. The good stuff is HIGH HEAT rated. EVERYTHING else lets loose when the temps get high and the coach bakes in the sun.
There may be other brands that work as well but the IMPORTANT part is that it has to be HIGH HEAT rated.

3M Super 77 is rated 150f heat resistance. I couldn't find the actual rating for the landau adhesive --everything just says excellent high heat resistance.

Btw, I found that my local upholstery shop could sell me INSTALLED VINYL that was better and cheaper than just the cost of the vinyl I could buy at local fabric shops. What I did was take them the backing material with all the holes cut out and test fit. They covered and left me at least 2" on all sides. I cut to fit and trimmed the holes. Painless and saved me money, not to mention the time.

At 150f, that was my thinking, but wasn't sure. Thanks, Kerry. Next time I'm at the co-op, I guess I'm going to be reading the side of a can to find the landau heat specs.

Hey, Thanks everyone for the great information. I thought about calling Jim Bounds, I guess I should have. I did search the forum but did not find the link to Jim's answer that was provided by RC Jordan. Kerry, thanks for the very detailed experience you have had with products off the retail shelf. I will try to track down some of the good stuff. Temperatures need to warm up a little before those adhesives are going to work well.
