Does anybody have a part number for the gasket that goes on the governor gear housing?
All the numbers in the parts reference are obsolete, and I can't find any current numbers.

thanks,
Karen

You can make one from a sheet of gasket material (available at most auto parts stores) using scissors and an Exacto knife of something similar. Use the pieces of your old one for a template.

Which brings up a thought. Would it be worthwhile to try to make an archive of templates for gaskets that are getting hard to find?

It's actually an O-ring.

PB 78Z / Pg 17-3 / Key 10 / RING - seal, governor to case.

The template idea is good, however, I ran into a problem scaling a drawing correctly is there a way to make sure what you print out
is correct BEFORE you tear something apart only to find your gasket ain't quite right?

It is indeed a good idea. There'd have to be some index markings that
would be a set dimension apart for comparison in both planes. Chucks
gmcmhparts.com would be a natural place to store links.

while this could be another case of "squished o-ring syndrome", the original is a flat sleeve about 1/4" wide. Don't see how I could make one out of flat gasket material.
There's a picture of one here:

Manny does have them, but it would be nice to have a current part number for future reference.
