Oh boy, My first 6 calls and clicks have not yielded any companies that could offer more than liability for a pre-1980 motorhome, and i sure wouldn't want to venture down south of the border these days without a good comprehensive and collision plan in effect! Anybody get their GMC insured in Mexico recently? Many many thanks in advance for any time-saving referrals.
The last insurance search (for "agreed value" policy 2012) yielded in weeks of crazy quotes and some affordable ones as well, which always dematerialized on some loophole or another,... hence we're still on a standard Market Value policy with GMAC (now called National General) (Save all your receipts if ever you need to file a claim, or else they'll offer you $5000 or $6000 to "total" out your fully refurbished GMC)!
OK, cheers and happy saturday,
Greg / SolarSonic / Los Angeles

Greg,

If you are ex military you could try USAA:

Good Sam now has an insurance branch that sells agreed value policies. I insured my coach for $49K for just under $400 per year. You have to get an appraisal from a "certified appraiser". I used Jim K. Jim B. also does them. I don't know about Mexican insurance.

Len,

Me too!

I thought I'd explain that a bit as it "sounds" confusing.

Being a vet I call USAA when I arrive in the USA for our yearly tour. I insure (roughly $200 per year) the 69 VW Beetle that I'm
building as a towd. I do that because I get liability insurance coverage on rental cars. Rental car companies charge $12 or so a DAY
for liability insurance!

I then ask them about the GMC. They tell me that they don't WRITE polices on motorhomes any longer and transfer the call to a
Progressive agent. Both vehicles are insured by USAA and because I called USAA first Progressive has written Agreed Value polices on
Double Trouble.

Armand,

That's a reasonable charge; do you happen to know who the underwriter is?

Rob M.

For about $100 you can insure your drivers license instead of your vehicle. This will only protect you if you hit someone. It is good for one year. It does not cover you if an un-insured driver hits you. You will be covered for any vehicle you drive. If you are pulling a towd this is a great savings.

If I use ZDDP in a new car - will the tappets go flat?
