Started up the coach this morn to take it to work and it is barely able to run.I keep it going till the air pump gets ride height.I sold the parts car on ebay and mine is not fully buttoned up yet so I take off spittin and a sputterin.I get a ways down the road and up to 45 mph and it coughs out the carb ONCE and then all of a sudden it is PERFECT again.I call Jeff at Sirum cause now I want to know WTF.He right away says oh yeah, its water! One tank says half and the other says a quarter.Condensation down here with temps going from 40's to 90's little drops form all across the top of the inside of both tanks. If full they can take the water intrusion if low on fuel the water can almost take over.I was worried at first but got 100 someodd miles today so he was right on!!!!!

Won't ethanol burn with water in it as long as the water concentration is fairly low?

Yes,It can.Kinda like pouring water down the carb for cleaning carbon.Has to be the right combo. So Last time I drove was NYE.Just imagine the water every morning building up over the 20 some days on low tanks. It just took over.Remember all we need is gas,air and spark.Air is easy to get, spark is easy to check, gas squirting in so.......Water!

Can't wait to drop my tanks so I can actually fill it up all the way, don't want to fill up all the way when I know I have to drop the tanks.

There a two products SPECIFICALLY MADE TO ALLOW H2O TO mix with gasoline, and pass through the carb, and burn in the engine.

McKays and Soloo water displaces. Get it at a GOOD parts store and add it to your fuel tank.

Len,

Two things:
Those of us that regularly do an alcohol in fuel analysis can tell you for a fact that 10% water will cause separation. What I have never done is any test to see how little water will cause separation.

If you plan to drop the tanks, buy an electric fuel size and capability really does not matter. Procure a 50 gallon drum. Use the pump to pull fuel from the tanks and put it in the drum.... Drop the tanks with minimal hassle. Do what is needed and then put them back and use that same pump to put the fuel back into them.

Sound like experience?? If you want better instructions, search for my priors on the subject or PM me.

Matt

It's difficult to tell with ice cubes in the glass.

Not Really, the ice sits in the bottom of the glass and is quite visible in the dark alcohol.
