I agree that you don't want them to be wrapped in anything that will seal in the moisture. As the temperature drops it will condense and rust will result. The reserve fleet for the merchant ships stored after WW2 were laid up in rivers. Anything that they wanted to prevent rust developing on was coated with cosmoline ( not sure of spelling) When they needed them for Vietnam they just cleaned off the cosmoline and they were in great condition. The same was not done for later ships added to the fleet and when they needed them for Desert Storm they were rust buckets.

I've dealt with cosmoline before but didn't know what it was called. Great stuff ...until you want to clean it off, heh! Ordered some brush-on from Amazon.
