RC recently posted on portable jump starters. This evening I had the first occasion to see one in use -- and then went to Walmart and bought a Whistler wjs-3000r for $59.96 plus $4 for a two year replacement warranty.

Tomorrow morning -- if my battery is bad -- I may have to give you an update on how it works.

What a coincidence! Based on the chatter here a couple of weeks ago, just
last night I ordered this one from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KBINF7G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&ps
c=1&smid=A35FG099FJ6F3F
From the description on the Amazon page:
"car jump starter and ultra-bright LED flash light for SOS when your car flameout in super highway & field"
'cause you want to be prepared in case of, you know, flameout!

Thanks Dennis but those numbers don't directly correlate in my pea brain.
Maybe one of the Kens will chime in here for an answer?

Here is a link to the manual -- says 33300 mwh, 200 amp, 400 peak.
Not sure how that compares.

Hey! Don't blame me, it was JimB who first came around the rv park waving his jumpbox around and taunting us with it.
One benefit of the setup is the way the terminal clamps plug into the unit. No more "red-on-first-or-maybe-black-first" to avoid striking a spark. Connect the clamps to the terminals then plug the 2-wire molded connector into the jumpbox. Louise like that setup a lot better. And having once seen a truck battery explode, I can't say I blame her.

I was partners with the owner of www.aga-power.com at the DOT Hazmat cert
class I have to take every 3 years. His is a lithium polymer set up. Very
small, will jump start the guys Ford F150 truck with ease many times. It
has 2 USB outlets to charge the crap out of your cell phone, is a
flashlight to boot. Will charge w/ 12 volt cord or wall wort. Cost was
$75. Their main customer are the UAV copters. Very small batteries, just
don't let them catch on fire...

I'll take a wait and see on something like that.
I wonder how many Ford 150's it would boost in Kapausking, Ontario?
