Call a couple of welding shops and ask if they do plastic welding or can refer you to a welder who does.

There are fittings that you can install almost any where on the tank and it is a do it yourself job. Many marine stores will have them and possibly Camping World. They are used just for what you have run into since it's almost impossible to comprehend every application. I'm sure someone here will have first hand experience.

X2 on plastic welder. Find a plastic fabricator in the phone book or internet. They can weld them wherever you want them in a few mins. It's Polyethylene. LA should have plenty of them.

I'm not keen on those push-through spuds, but that's just me. A deckplate in the top for access and a bulkhead fitting is more my preference, second to a plastic welded FPT. The deckplate is handy for checking the tank, too.

Is this tank the correct dimensions for your application?, looks like a generic tank. Applied GMC has replacement tanks that will fit original applications. If you are installing in a different location and need a specific size tank I would check with tank manufactures. I have used Plastic-Mart with excellent results, they have a very large selection of water tanks and will "spin" in fittings in any size and location that you request. A spin in fitting is not plastic welded and is not a bulkhead fitting, they are spun in at high speed and become an integral part of the tank. Don't forget a vent at the top of the tank.

Yup, I replied in the forum. The thread is formatted OK, so the problem must have been a glitch in the mail server.

Not sure what your problem is but if the tank looks like the one in the picture and it fits your space. You can buy a couple thread in fittings and go for it. Hole at the bottom should go to water pump. threaded corner hole to over flow and large hole is the fill.. Buy all fittings at Lowes or Home Depot.

As stated previously, these tanks use spun in fittings. A jig for each fitting is needed and a BIG router to spin them in- not something a novice should attempt. It's way to easy to melt the fitting into the tank and ruin your project. If you're not happy with the pop in fittings like Applied sells, your best bet is to bring the tanks to one of the tank manufactures' and have them install the fittings.

Yes, fittings into the plastic fresh water and holding tanks are impossible
to spin in without the tools. When we redesign the sewer tank as in RC's
coach -- we took out the original 2 tank system in favor of an original GM
floorplan single rotomolded tank @ the only way to set it up is with the
"pop in" compression fittings. It's important to make everything fit well
using the compression fittings. But when they are put in well, they work
pretty well. We have had our challenges fitting them in on RC -- first the
3" pipe was off a little, fixed that which made the smaller pipe not fit
but I feel with a little adjustment we can solve the problem. I do wish we
didn't have to use compression fittings but as I said, done properly they
will work well -- and RC's will work well when we are done.
Remember the phrase that fits working with these coaches, "It almost fits
perfect..."

OK, now I too know where this thread started. Remember the saying "It
almost fits perfect", well not to throw water on the party but if it will
fit in the hole I would adapt your lines to fit the tank. That is a
universal tank and thus the plastic is very thin. You need to make 1/2"
plywood support panels to keep the tank from ballooning out. It's also so
thin that anyone plastic welding it will be hard pressed to not blow holes
into it. I would not try that and I would also not try an "easy" fitting.
The fresh water tank sees water all the time. Compression fittings on the
top of a holding tank does not. You can block out fumes escaping with
compression fittings on holding tanks but not constant fluid pressure. I
have used those easy fittings on a tank like this but with no guaranty it
would hold long term. As much electronics as you have in your coach, I
would not put a potential leaker tank in there with that stuff.
That is the wrong tank for a GMC, but maybe you can adapt it. We use a
different universal tank, cost is @ the same, that has the inlet at a
corner and enough outlet fittings we have to plug off 1 or 2. Again, we
make side support panels and strap it together. The original totally
correct tank is a little more cost but as you will probably find, labor to
refit the tank will end up costing you more than if you would have talked
to one of us and gotten the correct one. We're buds and I have helped you
with information for many years, wish you would have called me on this
one. Sorry man but that's the short of it.
So the sort of all that verbage is --- adapt your coach now to that tank

hey Jim, and everybody else chiming in...
I think i should clarify here: Ordering this tank was not for the purposes of saving a few bucks...
Instead, it was to get 26 gallons into a very confined space. We don't need 35+ gallons
onboard the custom 21 footer. I checked several options, and this tank was one that would fit our space
perfectly. Unfortunately the fill fitting was NOT where it was in the picture, rather jutting out from one
of the top sides.. which would require the water fill tube shooting right through the super-confined spaces of our bathroom arrangement.
I understand that the 2 bottom fittings are under lots of pressure, and yes, it would probably not be wise
to put a new lower fitting into one of these less-than-premium tanks... and we don't really need to.
But the top fill...? which is not really under much "pressure" beyond the garden hose filling up, and the usual sloshing around...? hmmm... might be do-able in a pinch?
But anyway, first, since Amazon is return-able; i guess i'm going to call Ronco and see if by any chance they have a tank close to our dimensions, and could install with our fittings requirements.
BTW: The electronics of the coach have all been designed to be up at least 9 inches up off the floorboards, so any spillage shy of a tsunami won't cause any damage. Years of "experience" in the trenches has us designing this one to be a beach-proof and Burning Man proof as possible!

The system that runs the mail server side of the list simply forwards what is sent to it from the forum.
Your reply (quoted below) also has the incorrect "Subject/Title" associated with it - both on the forum and in the mail list. My first reply had the correct "Subject/Title"...
Since I replied to your post (with the incorrect Subject/Title) - mine also has the incorrect one now... As do several others - regardless of whether the reply originated from the forum or email.
