If anyone is interested rock auto is offering a close out special on Mobil One extended life oil filters for $2.54 each. I bought 6 of them. Some folks only use Wix but I feel Mobil One is good too.

I see they also have the "Champion Labs" PH24 filter for $1.13 each with 30 day warranty.
Never heard of that brand.

Don't know if I would trust that off name brand I bought some off name champion lab filters a few years ago I cut one open expecting it to be a typical champion lab filter but it was of poor quality. I'm sure the Mobil One will be a quality filter I can see they have a metal core and end plates also a silicone rubber back flow valve just by looking in the filter as they came today.

IMHO, getting a ring that is .010 over size is not a good idea. Doing that raises ring tension on the cylinder walls above an acceptable level increasing wear on both rings and cylinder walls. You would have to file end gaps increasing the risk that you did it wrong and end up seizing a ring. IMO, more important than ring end gap, is placement of end gap on the ring. I worked at a Hot Rod shop years ago and the master mechanic taught me how to place rings on a piston. Using that learned method, and other important assembly techniques you can keep compression consistant and up, while keeping oil consumption to a minimum. My motor (assembled by me using this technique) consumes about 1 qt in 1500 to 2000mi, and a fair share of that (judging from how wet the oil pan is) is leaking of oil. Last year I put on 7K miles on our trip south. No oil change on the trip....I added only 2qts on the whole trip. See this for how I learned to place rings on a piston. JWID
