[GMCnet] Radiator ReCore [message #267158]

G'day,

A GMC owner here in Australia needs to have his radiator recored.

I have searched my Radiator folder and the GMC Forum and can't find the spec for the radiator core.

1) How many fins per inch?

2) How many tubes? (Don't know if they too are "per inch.")

The stock one is 42 rolls, 14 fins per inch.
But you can find a 53 rolls with 14 fins per inch that will fit the tanks which should give about 20% more cooling.
Several have used this.

I have even heard of someone using 53 rolls with 16 fins per inch but I don’t know anything about it.

When I got my radiator done during my engine replacement, I was told that the CORE is the same size/shape as the one used in the GMC Top-Kick (AKA Chevrolet Kodiak or Isuzu H-Series) trucks. I got the one with the most cooling capacity, dimpled tubes and all. Wasn't cheap, but I am happy.

My radiator was recored by Rod's Radiator in Redding CA. (Rod rods hot rod radiators in Redding.)
