I did the ceiling in my GMC with pine strips. 5/16" x 3". T & G.
I removed the old droopy ceiling and glued and screwed 1/4" foam core plastic up.
Then glued the pine strips up. A slow process as I had to prop the strips up while the glue dried.

That's nice Howard. I might do the inside of my wardrobe closet with that stuff just for the aromatic smell.

Howard,

Glad to see you back!

It does look beautiful BUT I reckon you'd REALLY have to like cedar if you did this to a GMC considering the total surface area of
cedar giving off the "aroma."

It might get old - fast.

You get so you can't smell it. In the house, we have a fair amount of juniper (Atlantic White Cedar). Even after 25 years, newcomers rave over the aroma, but we have to be away for a couple of weeks to even get a whiff of it now and that only lasts for a few minutes. Funny how that works.

We had the same experience with our house in Santa Fe, NM.
It had split cedar ceilings over the vigas. After living there for a few months we could no longer smell the cedar but when we went on a trip to a rally for perhaps four weeks we again had the wonderful smell when we returned but we gradually got used to it.

Perhaps this explains why someone can live next to a feed lot that those of us driving by on our vehicles can barely stand the stench. Strange how our bodies or minds adapt to things.

Try a chemical factory.

You are hit with the smell when you walk in the door.
You see all the rusty metal, even the file cabinets in the office.
You see the big boiling glass cauldron of Nitric Acid.
After a week, you don't smell a thing...

I know what you mean. As a Chemical Engineer we call them a Chemical Plant rather than a factory. I was once assigned to a unit which made mercaptan and C8 - C10 fatty acids. These smell so badly that when I got home the first day my wife actually threw up. She made me take off my clothes on the back porch.

The chemicals permeated my clothing, my hair and probably my skin.

When entering the area you can smell it for about 15 minutes but you get used to the smell quickly but when you leave the area everyone else can smell you. Fortunately I was only assigned there for 6 weeks.

That was at Hercules Chemical in Louisiana, MO where I spent the summer between my Jr. And Sr years.
