Karen, those are a g.m. Part Number and should be still available at G.M.
dealers and other sources like NAPA. I don't know the exact part number.

I don't wanna hear nuthin' about no air conditioning!!!
The only dual squirrel cage blower I had available 2 years ago for my
completely new/redesigned HVAC (
http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=113153) was much smaller than
I thought I should use. The rotors are only about 2-1/4" in diameter and
not much wider. While the air flow was usually adequate, I wanted
excessive. So I recently bought an assembly about 3 times that size.
Installing the new blower has taken me most of a week, though part of the
time was spent implementing some features I hadn't completed -- such as
making the temperature control lever operative. Previously the cooling
function was managed with fan speed and a thermostatic control for the
compressor. Heating wasn't a issue. :-)
Finally, yesterday afternoon, I got everything working and was installing
the final panel. One of the #8 screws in the red-painted (for evaporator
protection) area of the cabinet wouldn't tighten. So I reached for a #10
to replace it. As I drove that screw home, I heard a "ppsssstttffff" and
caught a whiff of butane. :-(( Yep, the new screw was 1/4" longer than
the one that belonged there. :-(
The quality of my design really showed when I began to remove the damaged
evaporator -- horrible! It took considerable brute force to accomplish
what I'd hoped to (and should) never have to do. I'm not sure HOW I'll get
it back in. Nor how I'll restore the now-revised sheet metal I moved out
of the way.
And, of course, "my" welder couldn't get to repairing the nice 1/8" hole in
the evaporator tube today, when the OAT was 68*F. Tomorrow, when he
promised to have it ready, the temperature's forecast to max out at 47*F --
FAR below my tolerance. :-((
So, no, I'm in no mood to discuss air conditioning.

Do you remember the 3 times I've redone my AC?
Thats 3 complete times, not counting the charges and recharges in between.
SO I'll join the "I hate AC" club too
1. rebuild from Dead
2. Replace Compressor
3. Replace hose that kisses the compressor pulley
and 47 degrees is about the temperature inside my heated garage...
Ok, more like 65-70 but the floor is still very cold

When I bought the o ring kit for the 1970's GM a/c system from the auto supply those gaskets were in the kit. I didn't know they were getting hard to get or I wouldn't have given my spare pair to a casual friend last month.

The O-Ring kits don't have the one for the back of the compressor, they are way bigger

That's weird Larry, the URL you included is completely missing when I view your message via the forum (gmc.mybirdfeeder.net), but showed up in the
email digest version just fine.

Maybe not anymore but 5 years ago the 2 o rings for the discharge and suction line were in the kits from Kragen. Which has since become O Ryeilly's.

I take it back, did look at the picture Karen posted and that is a A6, the O-rings in the set will be just fine, and the ones in the set she has.
Just give it a couple of years and they will be square to
Loffen wrote on Wed, 19 November 2014 00:23Oh sorry about that Rob, did not see that thought she had the original A6 compressor, then I need a picture of the one Karen has in her GMC
USAussie wrote on Wed, 19 November 2014 00:09Espen,
If you look at the large o-rings in that kit you will see that they are round; Karen informed us that the ones in her compressor are
square.

Karen,
I would suggest giving Parker Hannifin customer service a call with the dimensions of the o-ring groove.
OD
ID
Depth
They will be able to advise the correct size o-ring to use to get a good seal. Ask them if, along with O-rings, if they have a Quad
ring that would work.

Got my ebay kit, which looks exactly like this one and all the others I could find. Unfortunately, the two rings I'd hoped would be
a match are just regular o-rings, not the rings with a rectangular cross section. Guess I'll just go with them, or try to reuse the
old ones with some Nylog sealant.
