It was 23° last night. When I got to the (unheated) shop this morning it was just above freezing in the coach. I plugged in my two little heaters, one on the engine hatch and one on the floor of the rear bath, and set them on low with the thermostat at about mid range. In less than an hour the coach was 65°. These things are awesome!

I have a Pelonis 1500 Watt Ceramic heater. I hooked up a line voltage
thermostat in a heavy duty extension cord and I hang the thermostat
from an upper cabinet handle. Set the thermostat at 70 and let'er go.
Keeps the coach toasty warm.

I have a couple similar and they work great. Also have the heat strip in the AC unit. The problem with all of them is they get the coach too hot. I just ordered a couple line voltage thermostats from Amazon. I'll wire one into the AC unit and rig another into the power cord for one of the quartz infrared units.
After I redid the insulation, I noticed a SERIOUS change in what it took to make the coach comfortable in hot or cold weather. SERIOUSLY less AC or heat (depending on the season of course).

In my old ( now gone ) stick and staples coach, I had an AirCon with the heat strip. I was at a campground and the night was cool so I put the fan on with the heat strip. Over night the temps dipped to 32 Deg F but the coach actually got too warm.
Having learned from this, when I did get the GMC Glacier, ( Gatsbys' CRUISER ), I added a heat strip to the already new AC unit but I also added a temperature control on the heat strip. It seems to have little problem keeping the coach comfortable.
BUT lest we forget, those little heaters are cheaper to replace than an AC unit. There are pluses and minuses to everything, LOLOLOLOL.
I have no idea why the heat strips got a bad reputation. I find them very effective with no worries about where to place them. If I have hookups during the winter (very rare) I find that just one of the two is more than adequate.

I hated the blast furnace Suburban in my coach and my TT. The damn things draw a battery draining 7 amps and wake you up at night, and the coach temp cycles too much. When on Shore Power, I ran the Heat pump, and still do, but my current rig is wired to fire up the furnace below like 40*. I was planning to hack a hydronic system with the water heater when I came across this:
It's similar to an aquahot but smaller for European RV's. The T@B trailers have them.
They are about $3K but I found one on ebay with a dent for under $200. It arrived, is basically brand new. I have it now and am gonna start playing with it. Looking forward to quiet heat.
They have a small recirc pump that draws 1.5-2A (I have the12V one) and can also be run on 110VAC. They also heat water, albeit only 2 gal, but plenty for a shower and fit in the same soot as my Attwood water heater.

Bob, On heat strips, my 11K BTU unit I had on my coach had some melted the insulation and part of the cowl from the heat strip. It was burned a bit inside. Not a fan.
