Hello All:
I'm installing a one ton for a fellow GMCer on a 23 foot. The unit has new frame rails without slots in front and rear.
I do not have another coach close to measure where they were on the frame to compare.
Question is: Does anyone know the ride heights for the 23 foot from ground to the bottom of the frame rails?
I remember the discussion somewhere but now I can't find it.

John,
See MM X-7525 / Section 4 - REAR SUSPENSION / Page 4-34 / Figure 70 - Checking Vehicle Ride Height
Note that the figure provides the location of the rear slots for both the 23' and 26' models.
You can calculate the ride height from the bottom of the frame using the following photographs:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/aa-miscellaneous-photos/p40039-front-height-adjustmen.html
IIRC the bolts shown have a 3/4" head and the ride height slot sure looks the same.

Ride height wood blocks.
front 9 7/8"
Rear 8 7/16
I cut the front pair out of 2x2's and the pair rear out of 2x4's. That way they do not get mixed up. On the ones we make for weighing coaches at rallies I mark every 1/4" from the top down for about 1.5 inches so we can easily read the ride heights as the wheels approach the scales.
For your use just cut 4 blocks of the above sizes and slide them under the frame. The is no need to mark the 1/4" divisions unless you want to.

Thanks a million everyone!
Using the measurements, I'm going to make measurement blocks. That way I'll always have them as a tool. I have Jerry Work's alignment tools, but they are intended for frame slots. I can add the measurement blocks to his kit to make it that much more versatile.
Yahoo!! One more tool in the tool box!!!
Great ideas!!!

I use a combination of gages for ride height. For the rears, I use jack
stand like gages that go under the frame rails. Because of the
reinforcements to the frame rail on the drivers side generator compartment,
the oval slot is not visible. I always set the rear ride height first and
place the gages under the rear frame, leaving them in place until I have
made the front adjustments. The front gages I use are made to sit on the
floor and extend upward beside the frame slot. That way, when I install the
torsion bar tool and tighten it down, I can see the results while I make
the adjustments. Then I catch up with the tool with the height adjustment
bolts and quit while I'm ahead. A quick check on the rear gages, and I'm
done. A note of caution here, NEVER TRY TO RAISE OR LOWER THE FRONT RIDE
HEIGHT WITHOUT USING THE TORSION BAR UNLOADER. YOU WILL STRIP OUT THE
ADJUSTER NUTS AND/OR BOLTS IF YOU DO.

Jim, The reason I make the rear measurement block out of 2x4's is I can use them for measurements, or I can use them to block the rear at the correct height. All I do is air up the bags slightly, insert the 2x4's and then drop the air in the bags some small amount until some of weight is resting on both rear blocks.
Now you can make adjustments to the front torsion bars without worrying about any up-down movement on the rear.
When you get done, air up the bag, slightly to remove the blocks. Then take it for a ride. The leveling switches will self adjust the rear to where they belong reguardless of any weight change.
