My steering box is seeping slightly. I was told before I do anything else, remove and clean the filter located at the bottom of the hydraulic windshield wiper motor. I was told to clean the screen and reinstall. Well after a lot of tries to get is loose, I finally removed it and did not find what I expected. Inside the tube was what looks like a round item about the diameter of a pencil eraser with three tabs on it. I can not figure how to get it out. I do not see any screen. I can easily blow through the tube in both directions so I am assuming it is OK to just reinstall.

Opinions Please.
