I have not towed one but is there anything specific you are trying to find out?

If you can get a hold of an owner's manual, it should tell you the specifics. Absent of that, the FMCA puts out a towing guide every year and should have the info you are looking for in that.

We looked at the Compass, but ended up with the Soul, the Kia being several hundred pounds lighter and for the stuff I carry in it occasionally, easier to load and with more room. I haul a large dog, grooming table, knockdown crate, and fairly large tack box. It all fits in with the back seats folded down, soft suitacse fits behind the rear seats in the depression there. If I go to Albuquerque with the BWD along, I'm toying with taking at least the front passenger seat out, as I used to do with the Jettas.
I found I can get a new Stehl dolly for about what it will cost me for a towbar and baseplate, so I'm leaning in that direction. Blue Ox doesn't offer an adapter to adapt their baseplate to my towbar. The dolly is kinda cumbersome, but offers a bit more flexibility.

The Stehl is available for 825 plus tax n tip, and is more than adequate for the Kia. Anent the Soul, I find the smaller engine totally enough for the shift - it - yourself version. The base 'no options' one I bought comes with A/C, power windows and locks, a basic (mpg, two trip meters, temperature) computer, variable ratio power steering, power discs all around, six speaker stereo/CD, traction control, and fold down seats. It lacks only a cruise control, which requires a somewhat expensive option package which includes a radio upgrade and controls on the steering wheel among others. The Rostra aftermarket cruise is less than 300 scoots on Ebay and installs in less than 30 minutes. I believe I can fit a couple of LED lights behind a pair of reflectors in the back bumper, and wire them to the dolly harness. Hidden stop/turn/tail lights for towing without getting into the car light wiring as I had to do with the last Jetta. I bought this one (2012) off the local dealer, a guy I know vaguely had traded it for an Optima for his daughter to take to college. this one has some remaining mileage on the 60K powertrain warranty, the newer ones have 100K warranty.
Relative to the Compass, however, the Kia is in demand and hence isn't being greatly discounted. The Jeep can be had for a substantial reduction off list if one looks around.

Yes. It should be available by the end of the year. The Trail Hawk model should be towable 4 wheels down. Not sure about the weight. We towed a Jeep Wrangler for a couple of years. It towed well but I thought it was a bit heavy - nearly 4000 lbs. I now tow a Sidekick. I waiting to find out how much the Renegade will weigh. Hoping it comes in around 3000 lbs or less.
