Ldeer hunting time is near. Ad even though i will be living in luxury in my gmc that week. My group tends to be a little overboard in their quest for a five star hunting experience.

We built out a luxury bunk house in a pole barn. Off grid, only powered by 12 volts and a 7000 watt honda generator.

We dont like to run the generator all the time.

My question is with hot water, Those who have gone the on demand route, how often does the batteries need to be changed?

What is latest and best model? And any other advice is welcome.

Space is limited, we have a tall ceilings. And the plumbing , water supply and heater will be hung about 7 feet over head. We have about 4 feet above that where it will be mounted. We do not want to go with a normal rv water heater. Due to how we want to vent it, dont want to cut a 2x2 hole in wall.

Jon, I think I answered this question off line for you. My cost for the unit, shipped, was 124.00.

Thanks Dan, I appreciate the quick information. Hunting opener is Nov.8th, and we have to get this finished up quickly, not to mention it is getting cold and not that fun to be out there working.

I called around a few local places, and quickly realized I am pretty sure the only way I would get one was via internet.

so after your email, and not seeing other replies, I quickly and hastily got online and I ordered this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marey-Tankless-Hot-Water-Heater-3-1-GPM-Propane-Gas-RV-Camper-On-Demand-LPG-/291279706385?

couple reasons, it should allow me to vent it up through the ceiling of the bunk house, and into the open area of the pole building. ( I went the size bigger, also since I am not the one paying for it, price was not as important), and 2, in haste or getting one ordered, it seemed the quickest one that would ship.. Hopefully have it by Friday, that gives us 1 week to install and complete the plumbing.

I was hoping to get more of a residential type unit, and actually was hoping to find a gas version of one of these small ones:

http://www.amazon.com/Reliance-SOMS-Gallon-Compact-Electric/dp/B000W6AVMY/ref=sr_1_6?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1414538695&sr=1-6&keywords=elect ric+5+gallon+water+heater

but all I found were at least 30 gallons, and too tall for where we are installing everything. 7 feet above your head in the bathroom. on a heavy duty shelf.

Thanks...

For your safety get a battery powered CO monitor and put it in the living area/sleeping area. You want to wake up the next morning.

Will work great Jon. You won't have any worries about being gassed to death. Way to go for a quick hot shower. Beats keeping the lines in check from the engine, and so many more advantages. I realize your not using it in your coach but one of these days you will be buying one of the smaller units for the coach. We are going into our seventh year with one on the rear bath wall.
