I have read that Zip Dee has a retrofit system for our manual awnings that makes them automatic. Has anyone had any experience with this on a GMC? The attached link shows the unit installed on a Airstream. I like it because in addition to being automatic it also allows for front and rear tilt options, good for rain.
Any thoughts / experience with this retrofit? Link below shows the unit in action.

I was just at the Zip Dee factory in Elk Grove Village, IL just prior to the GMCMI Chippewa Falls, WI convention in September. I was having a part replaced.

I saw the “Relax 12v Electric Satin Patio Awning and it is pretty nice. However the cost to the retrofit to your existing Zip Dee awning is $3,429.00.

I was also told that they were now installing them on an Airstream Trailer but that is a different curvature than the GMC. They have no yet developed a kit for the GMC motorhome but when and if they do, the price would be similar.

G'day,

Just got off the phone with Zip Dee and was informed emphatically "the 12vdc relax awning will not work on a gmc, you need 9 inches
above the door for the horizontal arms."

AW SHIT! ;-)
