Did you do Fuel Injection? I'm going to put fuel pumps in the tank. If you did FI, how did you return fuel to the tank?

Larry,

We are doing an in-tank fuel pump system.

We are using electric fuel tank selector valves to return the fuel to the tank we are pumping from.

The fuel pumps have check valves, so no supply tank selector valve is needed.

Larry,

My EFI fuel return is into the filler pipe. After the level is down below where the fuel transfers from tank to tank it seems to all go to the rear tank as reported by Matt. Rear tank is the aux on my stretch. Once the mains (2 interconnected) are low I still have 7 gallons left in the rear aux.

Not FI but I use low pressure in tank pumps to transfer fuel to a 1 gallon surge tank. From there I pump to the carb. Return from the carb to the surge tank. Return from the surge tank to a return line installed in the fuel sender mount on the aux tank. That way aux tank is always as full as possible. The return tube extends to just above the floor of the tank to eliminate splash.

I used the surge tank for two reasons. 1: If I ever installed FI I would only have to change the pump on the surge tank. 2: with the flat tanks possibly causing the pickup to go dry the surge tank gives me time to recover. This is not so important with a carb but can be critical with FI.

FI Return line runs to the filler pipe on my coach also, really easy to reach through the hatch as well.
