Off to Pahrump NV tomorrow to look at the coach ( 1976 Eleganza) our son
bought thru me. It has not moved in five years so this is more of a "what
do I need to bring next time" trip.

I'll grab the TZE and as many pics as I can.

Anything special I should do or look for?

Cheers

Yes, look at the planet/GMC interface, whether it's on pavement or sunk into the earth. Corrosion and degradation of tires and running gear and especially brakes. Check the brake fluid level before you touch the brake pedal. If it's low you might want to absorb it out into a clean rag and refill with clean fluid before you touch the pedal. Don't disturb the sediments in the master cylinder.

Look for critter intrusion and leftovers. And take a stick to wave at the spiderwebs that you won't even see.

And make sure that the windshield wiper blades will not fall apart and scratch the windshield before you start the engine. Sometimes mine take a swipe on startup, usually when it hasn't been run in over 2 weeks. Mine are hydraulic, if those are electric, it's a good idea to check that switch before hooking up a good battery. You never can tell who left what on in a vehicle that's been sitting for that long.

On the wiper blades, Pull them up off of the window. Down near the blade pivot there is a hole that you can stick a nail into. Do this nail thing and the blades will not rest on the windows and scratch them.

Len,

Jack up the front end and spin the wheels to be sure the brakes are
not frozen up -- so you can bring replacement calipers if necessary.
While it's up, shake the wheels top-to-bottom to check for excessive
front bearing play. Check the master cylinder for hydraulic fluid
(and its condition). Maybe jack up the rears for similar checks too,
though I wouldn't be as concerned about those.

If our experience with the coach John Beaver and I rescued last year
is any indication, it would be well worth the effort to bring the
carburetor home and rebuild it.

You can very easily pull the distributor cap and make sure the advance
is working -- perhaps drop a little oil on the pivots to let it soak
it before you're ready to crank it. Take a spare distributor (or as
many parts of one as you have) when you go to pick up the coach.

When you do go to pick it up, be sure to have a gas can, a few feet of
3/8" fuel hose, and an electric fuel pump with alligator clip equipped
leads so you'll KNOW you have a reliable fuel source.

Lots more things, but you've probably thought of those (and these, for
that matter).
