1900 miles and the Lady ran flawlessly. Ken Henderson had tire problems on the way to the rally and ended up getting 6 new tires in Chippewa Falls. The Bill and Pat Hutchinson convoyed home with us. Ken had gotten some bad gas and was leading the convoy in case he stalled when I saw smoke from the Hutchinson's coach. Of course it was in a high traffic construction zone. Mid tire on the left had let go. Fortunately there was no blow out and we were able to get off the road between barrels and quickly changed the tire with semi's whizzing past. Another reason I would not want to drive at night. I would have HATED to be in that situation in the dark.

The rest of the trip was uneventful other that some wind and rain the first day. Really windy on the second day, and today was beautiful.

Been unloading the coach and toad for the past two hours. Where the heck did all that crap come from?

We took two days poking along going home. Sue wanted to check out the Fresh art tour which is along Lake Pepin and Chippewa River which we did. A couple of those shops were up in the hills and I was glad the park brake worked to help the transmission park pawl. Wind was pretty stong and always seems to be a headwind. Hung our in Chippewa falls until Thursday afternoon. Met one of the guys who worked with Seymour Cray at the mueseum. One night in a campground and one Walmart. Battery held up with the furnace and electric blanket all night, 36 degrees this morning.
It was a great rally!

Both were 5 years old or close to it. Both were going to replace them this winter. Just to be clear, NONE of the tires actually blew out. Ken H had a tread separation that was thumping for 3oo+ miles and was lucky it had not blown. Bill H's tire went flat at speed. It was close to coming apart but was already deflated. Funny thing was that we were only about 10 miles from the rest area where we had stopped for lunch and I had zapped his rear tires with my infrared thermometer as I walked by them. Perfectly normal.

So so much for temperature being an indication!
