bumper hitch [message #262383]

Maybe a silly question, how do you get the bumper hitch through the bumper?
Do you have to have a hole drilled? What kind of a shop does that?

I talked with Blaine Merrill about this last week. He moves the bumper out one hole, drills four holes in the corner, and saws out the square, as I recall. Says the metal is surprisingly soft.

It cuts very easily. Drill the corners with a small hole - 1/4" or 5/16". Then use a metal cutting blade in a hand held electric jig saw and cut the three sides in each bumper piece. You can leave the rounded corners as the hitch shaft is rounded on the corners.

Ernie,
I used a jigsaw with a metal blade to cut the opening in mine (cut like butter), cut 1/2 the hole on one 1/2 of the bumper and 1/2 on the other side.
