Onan heat shield is easy. It's just about impossible to take pictures of mine in the hole but you can see it a CF. It's an easy DIY to make and a somewhat putzy item to install. Significantly improved my Onan heat issues. Total time to make and install was less than 2 hours at my pace. Probably 15 minutes for Kerry. (more GRIN at Kerry's expense. I sure hope he has a sense of humor.)

Ken, I completely forgot the details of what we discussed and my notes are somewhere in the chaos. Can you email me the specifics? I can probably get one done.

I have one that works made out of an old aluminum rack shelf. It was other people like Dan Gregg that wanted one made. I have a diagram somewhere that I made for you. I'll see if I can find it again. It was basically a flat piece of aluminum with three bends and then two welds or overlaps bolted together in two corners. I'll see if I can find that diagram again. If not, I'll show you mine at Chippewa Falls and then during the winter maybe you can make a few.
I would think your KISS shelf was more difficult to make than this thing is.

This is strange. I can find notes where were talked about it dated 3/10/2014 but I can not find the original note with the files attached which would have been sent on 3/10 or days just prior to that.
If you still have email notes from that time period look for one from me with the subject "Heat Shield Onan diagrams attached"
I'll keep looking for the diagram.

Ken Burton, check your email for a prototype of the shield. If you think it will do the job, I'll post it up here and see what the interest is.

djeffers wrote on Tue, 16 September 2014 22:16We are definitely interested in an Onan heat shield.
Will it be a bolt-on?
Yes.
It will utilize some of the 1/4" bolts that hold various sheet metal parts on the Onan. The big semi brought me 6 sheets aluminum today and I was trying to get some KISS shelves and the overhead cabinet done. I'll try and finalize the design tomorrow and post some photos. It will be a prototype design that will no doubt evolve with feedback and some testing. I'd like to take my infrared thermometer and do some before and after readings to make sure it does what we want it to do.
