Kim already announced this in the GMCMI news letter, but today I got a firm commitment from the windshield installation guys. So today around noon I opened up registration / scheduling.

These will be installed during the rally on Saturday September 27 and Sunday September 28 ONLY.

I have room in the schedule for up to 16 MAXIMUM. Four of those slots are filled as of 4PM today.

If you want more details or to reserve a slot contact me at n9cv at comcast dot net now. If you are reserving a slot please give me your name, address (for the receipt), home phone, and cell phone if you will have one at the rally.

Also give me your insurance company information if this will be an insurance claim. Insurance claims usually need to be pre-approved. They will not take all insurance companies due to the extended times some of them take to pay their claims. If you have one of those companies or a Canadian company he will issue you a receipt that you can turn in to your company for payment.

This is first come, first served offering.

Besides doing them at the rally, there is one additional pair of windshields in stock in their shop in Merrillville, Indiana (NW Indiana near Chicago) that could be installed in their shop on your way to or from the rally. These could be installed ONLY on Saturdays (September 20th or Saturday October 4th would probably be a good choice).

So make your reservation NOW. The previous two times that we did this at GMCMI rallys we had more people wanting them than we had slots available.

I will not put my telephone number on the net, but if you wish to call me, then look up my number on the Black List or PM/email me and I'll send it to you.

Replied off net. It is not fair to out normal GMC vendors to publish prices on the net.

No. It is not normally replaced. It also is expensive and requires a lot of extra work including supporting the roof when both windshield and the center support / divider is removed. The rubber locking bead is replaced if necessary.

As of 9PM I have 7. So I'm almost 1/2 way there.

For those of you that are going to have your windshields replaced, I would recommend the following. Once the old windshields are out, take the time to loosen all of the screws that hold the dashboard in place. Take each one out individually, clean or replace the screw and put a little white lube on the threads before putting the screw back in place. Then, when tightening the screw, do a light "snug" only. By doing this, if you should need to remove the dashboard at some time in the future, the screws will come out fairly easy. Believe me, because of the angle of the windshield relative to the dash screws, removing them at a later date without cleaning them and lubing them now, will be a SOB of a job. Even if you don't think you will ever remove the dash, make it easy for the next owner. Only takes a couple of minutes. Just what I'd do....

Is your windshield(s) fogged, cracked, or broken?

Are you attending the GMCMI rally?

Would you like one or both of them replaced?

This is just a reminder posting. I still have installation slots open.

The last two times we did this at GMCMI rallies there were lots of unhappy people at the rally because they did not get in on this.

This offering was announced in the GMCMI news letter but how many people read that news letter when it arrives?

Also many GMCMI attendees do not read GMCnet so they are not aware of this offering that way. Some think that they can wait until the registration deadline to sign up. That would be OK except we have to order the windshields before the rally sign up deadline and arrange have them trucked in to the Chippewa Falls rally site.

So I'm asking if you know of anyone that might be interested, are coming to the rally, and are not GMCnet readers, to please tell them about this offering.

Have them contact me at "n9cv at comcast dot net" or telephone me at home. My unlisted telephone number is on the Black List.

I'm going to have to cut this off in about 11 days.

Do not wait for the next rally. I have no idea if, or when, they will do another one for us. I was surprised that they agreed to do this one. It was a real stretch to get Preferred Glass to agree to travel 400 miles one way to do this one.

Please help me out here and help spread the word.

Ken, can you forward the glas installers address in Indiana or send to my PM? My coach is in the shop for awhile and won't be going anywhere. We finally tracked down a problem that has plagued the GMC for years and now are going to fix it. Something has gone astray in the fuel supply system and by George, WE'RE GONNA FIX IT! Long time coming and I am very up about knowing it is finally going to be GONE.

Thanks for any info. If you could offer any price estimate, or what is being charged at the rally, it would give me a heads up or I could call them if you have the phone number to share.

Thank you.
