Hello,
My in-laws just purchased a new travel trailer and have an extra Dometic awning they won’t be using. My father in law measured it to 19 feet. From my research it seems that the correct size for the gmc is 18’, Is the size a deal breaker? I see plenty of instructions for installing a ZIP-DEE awning, is the process basically the same for the Dometic hardware? Thanks for any input.

Dan,
I will need to be cut down to about 18 foot, 1 & 3/4” in length. The other problem will be the arms on the end. The GMC body is curved and the arms must also be curved to fit the body. The ZipDee arms are designed especially for the GMC. You're going to find that adapting an awning to fit the GMC that was not made for the GMC will be a PITA! Good Luck.

JR,
Thanks for the information, thats what I was afraid of. I wonder if it would be practical to find some zip dee hardware and use the new awning material.

If you buy the hardware you buy the whole package, hardware is not interchangeable.
