I know I only live a couple of hours from Kennedy Space Center but I'm pretty out of touch with that side of the state, grew up in Tampa. Does anyone have recommendations or experiences with any RV campgrounds in the KSC area. Possibly any with shuttle buses available so I won't have to take the auto. Trying to plan a couple of days at KSC and get in a good adventure in the GMC also. Thanks in advance.

Years ago we stayed at Jetty Park to see a launch.
Very nice facilities.

Skip,

1. Jetty Park in Port Canaveral is great, been there quite a few times. The only shuttle I know of is the one to the gambling boats that also call Port Canaveral home. Most spaces are out in the full sun, there aren't many trees. This time of year it's nice to have 2 AC's in your GMC when parked in a full-sun space.

2. Manatee Hammock Campground is a Brevard County park and is probably the closest campground to KSC. I was there a couple of years ago and got to see a nighttime rocket launch. We didn't plan it that way, we just happened to be there when a launch was scheduled. The campground was well maintained and very secluded, trees everywhere.

3. About a 20 minute ride away from KSC to the north is the KOA in Mims. As KOA's go it's about average. I have not stayed there in a few years so I don't know the current condition. From the road it looks like a well maintained place with a fair amount of trees.

Good luck!

We have stayed at Manatee Hammock five or six times in the last four years, but not in the GMC. Plenty of nice folks, nice waterfront, free wifi in the rec hall and however far your device can pick it up.

No transportation shuttle that I know of.

There is supposed to be a hotel over an inlet a mile or two north of it that the manatees love to congregate, and a place about 20 minute drive, I forget the name, ask around when you get there. We saw some at a distance from the pier at the campground one time.
