Hi Ken,

We have used the Wineguard carry out with good success for several years. First with Directv (ugh!) and now with Dish. With Directv we only got the low def programming. With dish we get HD, locals (a call away anywhere we have been) and premiums like college march madness when we want them. The carryout finds the sats quickly and automatically move between the two sats used by dish so you never need to be concerned with which sat carries the programming you want. Highly recommended.

One suggestion, be sure the coax you are using is RG6 which has a larger copper wire so it can properly carry the 12vdc needed by the sat finder when placed remotely from the coach.

Well, I had a little more fun this morning. Got in the coach that wouldn't
run last evening. Turned the key and drove it back into the shelter! I've
got a new fuel pump coming.

Then I tackled the Tailgater again. I moved it to the eastern side of our
yard to get a line of sight over the tall trees to the west. After several
attempts, I finally got satellites 110* and 119*, but still no 129*.

I've since learned that Winegard makes a similar antenna, the Pathway X2,
which DOES work with both the eastern and western arc satellite arrays.
(NOT the Pathway X1, which also gets only the western arc.) It's

Thanks, Jerry,

Glad to receive a good report on the Winegard.

The Tailgater documentation also emphasizes the RG-6 -- for up to 200'.

It ain't the current carrying capacity - the dish doesn't pull that much - it's the lower loss of RG-6 relative to RG-59. 200' of RG6 will attenuate about 4dB at 100MHz, while RG-59 will lose nearly 10dB. If you have a 5-6dB fade margin, the one will work and the other will not. As the frequency increases the difference in loss accellerates, it isn't linear with RG-59.
