1 hour from where I live is normally 1 of 2 flyable Lancaster bombers
left in the world of 7000+ built. They decided to fly it to England
to join up with the RAF Lancaster for some shows. It MADE IT TO ENGLAND.
I guess I could claim some GMC content as the Lanc has propellers that
Rob M. can relate to.

If your interested, GOOGLE CWH Lancaster flys to England.

I saw it in July when I was back in Hamilton.
There was a B-25 there too.

Dave,

You are correct; the Lancaster had Hamilton Standard propellers!

While I was based in Paris we received an AOG (Aircraft On Ground) call from the people that owned the British owned Lancaster, they
were looking for a prop seal. I actually had the manual for the prop in our office. HS had a rep based in the UK during WWII and he
had sent all his manuals to the Paris office after the war. I was able to track down the part number and they were used in a later
model prop so we got a few shipped to him from the factory,

Rob M.

I stood next to that beast when they fired it up at an Airshow (CFB Trenton)a few years ago.

Four roaring V12 Rolls Royce Merlins, the sound of Armageddon!

Would have loved to fly in it to England, but couldn't afford the $100k plus ticket.

Rob, there are 2 flying Lancs (8 propellers) and at least 2 with running engines
(8 propellers) so there is still need for people that know big old school propellers.
I'm sending this from Toronto as I too could not affort the seat cost to go to or come
back from England in the Lanc. I used to be a member of a museum in Toronto
(not currently in operation) that had a somewhat complete Lanc that was actually
built in Toronto near the Toronto International Airport right near where the
Avro Arrow was built. BIG technology leap in not too many years. Last Lancs were built in
1945 and the Arrow flew in 1959. No propellers on the Arrow LOL!!!
