The trip so far
Left home on June 6th to meet up with some old and new friends in Chicago and the Route 66 rally.
Thanks to those that helped with info/hospitality etc along the way, the Morisson's in Chicago, The Van Winkle's, Knel's, Dugan and Nelson in Springfield, the Williamson's and St Clairs in NM. Also to anyone I missed thank you very much. We are now 6200 miles into this trip and presently on the far west coast of Canada in Tofino/Ucluelet BC. The GMC has performed well with no signs of vapour lock even in 110 degree weather. Have been running 87 octane and no additives buying fuel when needed.Have run the generator in excess of 100 hrs without problems.Been driving mostly the red roads with minimal interstate. Have encountered some good climbs but the 455 was more than upto the task. Now for the repairs, new final drive under warranty in CA (noisy but working fine), New 1 ton front end(wanted one) in OR which is performing well but will need some more alignment work, fan clutch (on 3rd one and still not what i want), couple wire connections, thermostat, and a CV boot. Nothing major and all add to the adventure. Come Monday we beging the trek east to the GMCMI rally and then home in Oct.

Now that's what a GMC is about ! BTW, don't tell us what the fuel economy is or this thread will take a turn for the worse.
