After the successful voyage from San Diego to Farmville the GMC is going
to receive some TLC for the interior. Part of that will be the
replacement of the existing ceiling and probably walls.
Did anyone ever install Pyrogel, an Aerogel based product, as a
replacement insulation in their coach?
Inquisitive mind wants to know.

Peer,
Appears to provide great insulation properties, the high cost starting at mid $3.30 and up a square foot and special requirement for handling such as gloves, eye protection and dust mask recommended. Spend you money on the mechanical parts of your coach first to have reliable transportation. Insulation can be added by additional spray foam or other insulation products.

Pyrogel is just the name of a product based on Aerogel. Yes, it is
expensive, that's why I asked if anyone had hands-on experience with it.
I have to have the ceiling done (and probably the sides), and if you
consider everything else, 45ft of a 6mm think, 56inch wide roll of
Pyrogel is priced at around 700USD, I don't think the additional
material cost is any match for the time and sweat invested in doing the
work.
But as I said: It would be nice to see, if anyone else did it already.
Thanks for the hint re forum already discussing it. I shall search for
the thread, when I am back on German ground.

I also am interested in this product and probably will use it as an additional layer in my coach. I live in a hot humid area where any help in thermal barrier-insulation is a help. There is a valid argument that given the amount of glass in our coaches, and insulating from the road temps underneath the vehicle will require a non porous material, that high priced insulation may not be the best rate of return on investment, but with the hot sun in my area, every time I will put my hand on the ceiling and it is cool, will be a $700 smile. Would be nice to achieve cooling of the coach without running the overhead AC, but may be a dream from an inexperienced newbie like me. Still researching, and like you inquisitive.

If you crawl under your 1975 PB you should see a thin sheet of aluminum, under that is 3/4" of Styrofoam then the 3/4" (or is it
1"?) plywood floor.
I didn't know where Tulare, CA is so I Googled the average temperature:

I see in July and August overnight it gets down to 67/65 overnight and goes up to 93/94 during the day. While insulating every
square inch of your GMC with Pyrogel will help it retain the cold soak from the night before I would be willing to wager by 12:00
your going to be running the roof air.
Keep in mind that as you egress and ingress the coach during the day the warm / hot air will get in.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT POO POOING the idea of Pyrogel (I might try it myself on my GMC in Australia); my intent is to make
sure you aren't disappointed after insulation your GMC with Pyrogel.

I probably should have clarified that the statement of "cooling of the coach without running the overhead ac" was about driving and using the compressor on the engine for cooling without having to spin up the Onan. I know, a lot of work and probably installing 2 efficient evaporators, but just pondering. Probably too much work and ignoring the KISS rule.

Jack,
The dash air in the 1975 models SUCKS!
I am of the opinion that the only dash air that's decent is in 1977 / 1978 models.
The sunlight streaming through the windshields will overcome your dash air. There are two ways to combat that problem:
A) Install a clear plastic shower curtain behind the driver and passenger seats like Dan & Teri G.
B) Install a second evaporator under the dash like me (you don't need two).
