Dan,
There is an existing storage area under the fridge. That area of the cabinetry has been redone so I'm not sure if its the same size as OEM or not. From the back it is very close to the roof spars. I used a couple angle brackets to fasten it at the top and a couple screws through existing holes on the bottom plate to hold it in place.

There is lots of room behind the fridge for storage as well.

Forgot to add.. the only issue, which I have a fix for... is if the compressor is running during a power changeover (from inverter to shore power for example) the compressor will stall and kick out the overload breaker in the motor.

I have an Omron industrial timer in my odds and sods box which I intend to wire up as a delay-start timer. Then when power is applied, the timer will delay the compressor from running for about 5 minutes. This will give time for the gas pressures to equalize before stating the compressor.

It looks really nice Bruce. What size inverter do you need to run it? So you still have the storage under? That was what I was wondering.

Dan,
I have a Samlex 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter.

Trick is to have heavy battery cables and keep them as short as possible. The 600 watt start up will take about 70Amps for a second or so while the compressor starts. Right now I lose 1.3 volts in the battery cables during start up. About 0.6 volts of that is across the circuit breaker.

I'm planning on moving the inverter closer to the battery and using a 200 Amp fuse. That should bring my cable losses to under 0.5 volts.

How does air circulate to cool the condenser coils?

Yes, as close to batteries as possible. I have mine very close then I run a commercial extension cord to rear of coach for the microwave and vacuum.
Looks good.

As near as I can tell, the condenser coils are attached to the inside of the side walls. They are using the side walls as a heat sink for the condenser. The sides and back get warm to the touch. Not very efficient in my view, however the old Norcold ran for about 40 minutes per hour. This one runs for about 20 - 25 minutes per hour.

I had a 10 Cft bar fridge (no freezer) at the old house that was made the same way.

Looks to me like you have it closed in too tight. You are going to want air to flow freely from the bottom to the top of the back and side walls. Air has to have a way to get in at the bottom and out at the top. Otherwise you will be complaining that the ice cream is soft and the beverages are warm. And it will stop working altogether sooner than you think is reasonable.

Well don't tell the fridge and ice-cream that! Its been working fine since I installed it in 2012.

There is the width of a 2x4 on each side plus the back has plenty of ventilation from bottom to the roof vent at the top. There is regular size RV vent at the bottom with a roof vent at the top.

I didn't know it had a roof vent. That ought to work just fine.

Many of us have similar installations with great success regardless of the normal nay sayers. What is it about this net that the same people always tell us why certain things won't work while the rest of the community learns from it??

Our current installation (the second) is not as nice, but it makes ice much better.

The first replacement for the Norcold was a Frigidaire 4.5 that did not have a real freezer, was not energy star and was basically expensive junk. It had an inch on each side and the airspace was cleared by a temperature controlled induced draft fan set to the coach interior. This is a 23 - Remember... It was all powered by a Hazard Fright 750/1500 inverter. One of these burned up, so I carry a spare. It is cabled to the house bank through a 100 amp breaker and short runs of #4 &6 copper.

We just hauled it out and replaced it with a two door (real freezer - makes Ice in a day) that is energy star, runs at 6.3 amps instead of 9.6 and at about 30% of the duty cycle. Mary is not unhappy with the 3.5 (same as the Nocold) to have a real freezer. This one also has so much air space on the sides that I don't need the fans now.

But, I still need to be able to recharge the house bank. (See other topic.)

Because the photos did not provide complete information.
