Greeting from Southern California !!

A recent thread on adding additional dash or engine driven air conditioning makes me wonder...

What's the consensus on driving with the onan and roof A/C running ??

I've done it for short distances - am I asking for trouble ??

Thanks,

I do it when ever the heat gets too much for the dash air. On our return from the Pawnee rally my dash air quit and I ran the Onan for hours and hours during the two day trip home.

It's all I have. Dash air has never worked and from what I've heard,
even with it does it's not great on the early coaches. The duct work is
snapped together and leaks like a sieve.

If it's above 85° and we're driving into the sun, we crank up the roof
air. Ran with it for hours that way. Seems like the Onan would run a
little cooler if you're motoring down the hiway.

Looks like you have your answer. Our dash air works great and I use it a lot when just Teri and me in coach. We pull the clear curtain behind us so we cool only the cab. Or, when just driving around town. On long hot trips I often shut off the dash air and fire the Onan. Have run it for 12 hours at a time in hot Arizona and California. I do suggest an automatic fire extinguisher. Cheap money for the secure feeling it gives me.

We run our Onan and roof air all the time in the summer. Never had a problem with it. I DO have an automatic fire suppression system on the generator just in case. It is a necessity during the summer here in AZ.

No. We drove 100 on Saturday and over 150 miles today with it running.

I have in the past ran several hours at a time.
