I'm finally getting the water heater back in the coach and found out the
drain valve leaks. I saw a pic of something other than the brass petcock,
possibly a ball valve as a good replacement. Problem is, I can't find the
pic.

Anyone have that pic or a better suggestion?

Thanks,

Len and Pat

Have you opened and closed the drain valve tightly?
On mine, unless the valve is 'cranked' tightly, it leaks when is is
supposed to be closed.
Just sayin'

I just have a small ball valve with the handle oriented so I can reach it from inside the bath. A rubber drain hose goes through the wheel well and drops the water near the rear tire.

I removed the radiator petcock they used. It kept clogging. I put a pencil up into the tank and made a mark on top of the fender well. I drilled a small hole using a 1/8" bit in my fingers then drilled a hole up frrom in the wheel well so that I could get a short length of pipe through it.

I put a short nipple into the tank with a ball valve on it and then a pipe from the bottom of the valve through the Fiberglas fender. Ii had to bend the handle a little so I could open and close the valve.
Now if the outlet of the tank should clog with a calcium deposit you can just stick a wire up through the open valve and clean it. The tank drains fast also.
