Sometimes there is nothing wrong with the original one but the ground is bad due to it being bolted to the rusty manifold.
Years back I soldered a 10 gauge wire to the side of the choke housing and grounded the other end to a bolt on the bracket holding the Onan. My choke started working again and it has been working for many years now.
