Hi Jared,
I have great admiration and personal experience for the warrantee service from Les Schwab. Can't be beat. I have used and really like the Toyo tire for our GMCs. I don't know the Tarramax but check the country of manufacture. A blow out on a GMC is often way more traumatic than on a car and also far more costly in terms of collateral damage so that would far over ride the $600 price difference for me.
On our way across country four years ago we lost one of the Toyo tires in the middle of no-where IA. Had to go back to a small nearby town and buy the only replacement they had in stock - some off brand. I took a photo of the blown Toyo and when we finally got back to the west stopped at the first Les Schwab tire store we came to. Showed them the photo and they replaced the tire at no cost and with no questions asked. When that Toyo blew out it did no other damage and we were able to come to a safe stop, thank goodness. That is the only Toyo tire issue we ever experienced in well over 50k miles on them.
I also wanted to call your attention to an upcoming rally that is in your back yard. On July 9 the GMC Cascaders are holding a rally in conjunction with the Arlington, WA, air show. Details on the Cascader web site. That would be a great opportunity to meet a bunch of the really neat GMCers who will become some of your best friends going forward. I tried to pm this to you, but your email bounced back. Hope to see you and your family there.

So I got an estimate from Schwabs for 2 different HT tires.
Both brands are Load Range E, 10 ply Steel Belted with fabric sidewalls.
First is the Toyo Open Country HT, 60k mile warranty. Definitely would be a great tire, they are quiet, and long lasting.
Second is the Terramax HT, 40k mile warranty, I have no experience with this type of tire, he did say they would be noisier than the Toyos.
The Toyos are $1500, the Terramax are less than $900. That is out the door.
Is road noise really a factor when considering a tire for a GMC MH?
I don't see us putting more than 3k miles on this coach per year, so am not going to wear out the tire before its useful life is up.
The tires had very similar tread, the Terramax was a little more blocky closer to the sidewall.
I welcome any comments.
Jared

We will try to be there, am crossing my fingers!!
We, meaning she, decided to go with the less expensive tire.
And to me that is fine, Rick at Les Schwab whom I have dealt with for years installed a set on a buddys Class A a few months ago and he loves them.
They carry a 40k mile warranty but they are a 60k mile tire.
Now that the brakes and the tires are out of the way, just a few things left to get her ready to roll, and I am talking locally rolling.
Oil cooler lines (waiting to hear back from JR Slaten)
Crack in the Holding Tank (Gonna have Gary at Arlington RV and welding supply plastic weld it for me sometime next week)
Adjust the steering box (tomorrow after I pull off the wheels to drop them off on Monday for the new tires)
Bleed the brakes again (also tomorrow)
We will never stray to far from home, the furthest we have ever gone is Winthrop which is less than 400 miles round trip.
We are both young, and we both work full time, luckily enough Mon-Fri. We camp on the weekends.
Our 2 biggest weekends are Memorial Day, and Labor day, we take extra time off to make those 2 holidays a week long trip.
