Hello,

So now that I finally have the GMC up and secured on jack stands, I can go about replacing all the rubber I can get my hands on. I see Applied GMC sells hose kits for the radiator. Is this necessary, or is everything on the radiator standard hoses that I can get locally?

Get them from JmK. You will be sure that they are correct. Beats arguing with the kid behind the counter at your average auto parts store.
You could also check the GMCMI parts book for hose information.

Dan - I assume you have a 403. I was able to get the correct ones for the 455 from NAPA. See here:

I got the correct ones from Napa. Make sure the fan does not come close to
it. The mechanic who installed the first one ( a week ago) had it clear of
the engine but did not leave enough room of any movement and at certain
times the fan hit the hose and when discovered less than 3 days later the
gouge was through the first layer of rubber and through the metal inner and
about to go through the inner rubber layer.
Replacement one came from Napa as well.

If your current hoses are known correct and in decent enough shape for a comparison and you are willing to spend the time you probably can find the correct ones at your local auto parts store for about the same money you can call Jim k and tell him 403/ 455 and get the exact correct hose. If my hose is not broken and I'm stranded it's easier just to call Jim.
