Guy,
At that price, I'm tempted. My original Atwood still works well, within
its limitations, but that would keep me from cobbling up something behind
the refrigerator, with the frustrations and hazards of that option. I
guess maybe I can afford to buy propane even when we've got shore power.

Ken,
My heater may be repairable, and I will try that first. I have looked at the photos from a few people who ingeniously mounted a house tankless heater behind the fridge, but I'm not sure that I'm up to that kind of challenge right now.
I am also not a fan of the preheat hoses running from the engine coolant system. I know that failure is rare if the hoses are kept in good repair, but I think that I would like to remove that potential failure point.
Endless hot water even when dry camping, no preheat hoses, slide out the old and slide in the new (after running a propane line)... it has my interest! And you're right, at the price of $471 it wouldn't break the bank to try it.
Now if I could pick someone's brain who has done it or knows of any installations... Anyone?

Hi
Many of the new trailers use this unit, many are replaced with conventional water heaters. We looked at a fifth wheel that had one,
the sales staff said many were coming back and being replaced with a conventional heater. I should have asked if they would sell
one of the pull-out heaters.
" That is to say, that the temperature of the hot water coming out of the hot water faucet is determined by how open or closed the
hot water faucet is; the faster the flow, the cooler the water; the slower the flow, the hotter the water"
This seems un-natural to some people, but as long as you know how it works going in it should not be a problem. I think some folks
expect full volume at the sink as well as high temperature.
The price looks good. They are over $500 on EBay.

Wouldn't you have to cut another hole in the side of the GMC? Or do you already have a gas fired water heater? I haven't measured but believe it would fit where the old one is.
It does sound inviting ...
