Anyone with experience with the Raguse air intake? Wonder if it is noticeably beneficial.

There was quite a discussion about this around December 7, 2013, see message about "Air Cleaner Design". Some very knowledgeable folks came out of the lurking status and posted some interesting stuff.
You will have to dig and think for yourself on this. Cooler air might prevent knocking, but it might be difficult to take advantage of advanced timing unless you have either a fuel injection setup with knock sensor or a manual advance setup you can vary from the dash. They were more popular in the olden time. The ram air effect is probably not going to get you much. See the posts.

MSD makes a knock sensor system that can be applied to carb equipped GMC's. JmK has them.

I have the fiberglass scoop in my grille: http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/574 I can't really say that it made a noticeable improvement, but I like to think it did. It certainly didn't hurt.

I don't have a scoop out the front but do have 3" drier hose going from the air cleaner horn to the grill. What I have noticed about this setup is that you will need to change your air filter element more often. A lot more dirt and bugs get through to the cleaner than I expected. About 5K miles ago I noticed my milage dropping and the FA indicating a richer mix than I was use to seeing. Checked and changed the element and saw immediate improvement. I only had two oil changes on that element. JFWIW
Never had that problem here in the high desert not enough humidity for most bugs.

I guess I won't be doing ram air scoop. The air cleaner would load up on bugs before I got to the end of the driveway. <NO GRIN>
