Sorry everyone, was just getting ready to close the laptop for the night when the wife asked me about this.
All of my Alcoa wheels have notches I, II, III,IIII, etc under one of the lugnuts on each wheel.
The hubs that these wheels were removed from have the same corresponding notches.
It is as if they are numbered, 1 notch on hub = 1 notch on wheel, etc.
Is there a reason for this?

Possibly the wheel/tire combo was spun balanced on the vehicle. This was pretty common in the 70 and 80's, not so much anymore. It was supposed to take into account any imbalance in the brake drum or rotor. If that is the case, it would not only be crucial to put the same tire/wheel combo on the hub it was balanced on, but also in the exact same position on the hub.
I think it fell out of favor for several reasons. It was difficult to do, you couldn't rotate the tires without re-balancing them all, and it wasn't really necessary.

Hi
At one time it was possible to balance the wheels on the vehicle. The advantage is the balancing compensates for any out-of-balance in the brake drums (rotors) and hubs. If that is how yours were balanced the marks would make it possible to return the wheel to the proper hub and the proper position.
I personally would use balancing beads. I had my drums balanced because there was evidence of missing weights. It cost nearly as much as new drums.

The balancing must be it, I will have to go through the receipts for the 58K the PO spent on this coach in 91.
Actually what do you call a PO before the PO?
The owner of the company I work for bought this in 94, Told me, and then gave me the book containing the receipts and work orders for all of the work done in 91. Just under $58,000 spent to modernize this coach. Almost half was spent on paint, 2 stage.
This thing has a 3rd high mounted brake light, anybody seen that before?
