My coach came with the fiberglass (with the GMC Logo) spare tire cover but was not mounted because it would not fit over the 225/75/16 tires. I put a 16.5 wheel & tire on as a spare and now the cover fits but my question is how is the cover held on. It has a clasp at the bottom but that by itself does not hold it on tight enough. Am i missing a part for the spare cover. It looks like something had previously attached to the rear.

Get a strip of carpeting that will fit over the top and side tread of the tire and it will snug up the fit.

I didn't know there was that much difference in tire size. I did some calculations and it appears a new 225/75R16 tire is about 5/8" bigger in diameter than a new 8.75R16.5 tire.

Maybe you need to take one of your tires that has some wear on it and swap with the spare. If it has an eighth or quarter inch of wear, the cover might fit better on it than the tire on the 16.5" rim.
