My grill and one headlight door took some damage.
Nothing I could find for common adhesives did any good and I tried a lot of them.

But, when I was reworking the dump pipe, I decide to keep it all ABS. I had already had trouble with the universal PCV/ABS/CPVC stuff, so I went and drove to get some real ABS pipe cement (Oatey 3889L). It did what I needed.

So, I got that can out again to try (yet again) to fix the grill and the headlight door. That was a good idea. The cement is already black and it glues grill like it was intended to all along.
The missing pieces of both were cut from left over pipe and sculptured to fit. Now all I have to do is find paint that will stick to the areas I had to sand smooth. Nobody in striking range has Krylon Fusion.....

Besides Walmart, True Value hardware stores stock some colors and they can custom order the rest.

I've found that PlastiFix http://www.urethanesupply.com/PlastiFix/ works great, I've done the headlamp surrounds, and front and rear headliner and side panel. This stuff is easy to use and makes the repair stronger than the surrounding material

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g6616-plastifix.html

I'm going to do a better write-up later, too busy at work right now.

ps the stuff comes in white, black, and clear

When I fixed my grill I used ABS cement from Home Depot and bought some sheets of ABS from Tap Plastics in Calif. I bought the ABS in 3/32" thick sheets - ordered 4 square feet cut into 1' x 2' pieces. I cut them into about 1 1/4" strips and glued them inside every surface I could get to in back of the grill. I bent it using heat so I could strengthen the corners. Using ABS cement between two pieces of ABS makes a pretty thick and strong piece of plastic - becomes one piece. After that was all done I used ABS cement and some plastic repair stuff - sounds like the Plasti-Fix would be a good choice. It looks great now.

Doing the repair on the stock Grill previously I'd used fiberglass/body filler and that cracked. This time I used ABS shavings mixed with MEK and some colodial silica to make my own filler. That worked to bond the pieces together-very well I was amazed! I then used the Oately ABS black cement that Matt Collie mentioned in this post and then laid woven fiberglass mat strips into that second level of the repair it is very very solid and no where near as thick as it was using the body filler
I'm very happy I wil put a thin layer body filler to smooth everything out for paint.

The reason why fiberglass does not work on the grill or light bezels is
that they put oil in the plastic so it will release from the mold. There
are epoxy that is made just for that. We have some her

If you are over this way, Ace Hardware, Fort and Van Horn and Sherwin-Wiiliams, West and Grange, both carry Fusion for Plastic.

Thanks Mike,

I did finally locate some. I have since painted my grill, and it would look great if I was to clean the bugs off it again.

Ah, Just now noticed the date you posted this top[ic.
Didn't realize until now that someone revived a nearly 5 year old topic. Oh well, if you need more Fusion you know where else to look.

After seeing two very salvageable coaches get sold off as scrap because the owners took the advice of someone that obviously had very little TZE experience and the difficulty of relocating information that was once seen, will continue to think poorly of FB. The only reason I have a presence there is that there are a significant number of your and unconnected owners in my area and I was trying to use FB to get them to understand what a valuable and powerful thing this community can be to an owner. Thus far, I have brought about a dozen into the community and that is about an half of what I know is there.

There is also no badgering for personal information here and no tracking of you activity.

Matt
