Emery;
I had cataract surgery on both eyes.
Only one at a time.
My lenses were $2,500.00 each over what Medicare covered.
The first lens they put in was not the correct prescription.
The Doc said he would have to change it.
I said, how are you going to get it out as they have to fold it in half to
get it in.
He said he would have to cut it in half to remove it.
I said you mean you are going to cut a $2,500.00 lens in half.
He said it's the only way to get it out but it won't cost you anything.
I was a little worried to say the least but everything went well.
I wish you all the luck in the world and hope it goes well.
Keep us up to date.

Jim,

I have been told that I have the start of cataracts last time I went to the optometrist and that I would eventually have to get them
removed.

I'm interested in knowing how the hell they screwed up the prescription?

Optometrists (or whomever) seem to be very good at that. SHE's been
waiting over 2 weeks for replacement lenses after a visit to HER eye
doctor. The new lenses came in and were wrong. Then the replacements
arrived and were screwed up in the office here -- twice before they got
something for HER to try on. Those were made wrong. SHE's waiting for the
NEXT new lenses. Unfortunately, there's no competition in town.

But at least they're not poking around in HER eyeballs.

If it's any consolation, Rob, I had absolutely NO problem when I had mine
done several years ago. Drove myself home from the operation both times.

Sorry for everyone that had problems with their eye operations, that really sucks. I had cataract surgery done on both eyes 3 years ago, everything went well with 20/20 vision in both eyes as a bonus on 68 yo eyes at the time. They're still 20/20. The surgery goes so much better when they're caught early.

I'm on my 4th set of glasses in the last few months. They can not seem to get the script correct. I finally went through all of the old glasses that I have and found a pair that are 12 years old and work perfectly. I'm headed back to the eye doctor's on Thursday.
