Greetings !!

After a few weeks of storage, and in some hot weather, I retrieved my coach from the storage yard for a wash, some minor work, and some exercise.

When I flushed the commode, (a new Aqua Magic Style Plus), there was a small "pop" and some water splashed up and out. The blank tank clearly had some positive pressure. There was water in the bowl - it didn't throw up water from inside the tank.

So... How can this be ??? Does this mean that my black tank vent through the roof is somehow plugged up ??

Thanks,

Steve,

Your coach actually has two black tank vents. Go look at the roof.

It is quite possible that you have bird or large insect nests in those. You will have to go up on there to see. The rear of the two drops straight into the black tank but also picks up the shower drain on the way. The front on is only a BOCa required vent for a long drain line, but it still should be clear.

Good Luck.

Matt

Betcha got some mud daubers, house wrens, spiders or even a snake making a home up there...if you're lucky. If you're unlucky, it will be a hornet or africanized bee nest.

Fairly easy to go up roof and remove the vent caps [you do have them right?]
Often a water hose will clear an obsruction if you dont see it right away. Failing that, A round bristle brush on a pvc pole will work. Just make sure it is secured well with duct tape or you wont see it for a long time.
Don't ask me how I learned that.

Sometimes the vent pipe will fall down and sit on the bottom of the tank. You may want to unscrew the cap to make sure the pipe is up above the roof line.

The more I think about it, I would think any pressure in the tank is free to exhaust through any of the other drains in the coach--even though thye may have some water in the traps.
