I am having all kinds of problems with this new software. Tonight I tried 4 different browsers on three machines. When I first connected after the software upgrade I had a log in problem. It would allow me to login in but not automatically. That suddenly cleared up after a few days. I do not normally logout and the login in on mine is automated so I also do not need to log in except when I'm using a different machine. I do not know what the problem is. You could try clearing the cookies just for gmc.mybirdfeeder.net.
I am going to try another Windows 7 machine at the airport probably tomorrow.
If you could not login, How did you make the previous posting?

I am also having lots of problems. Things behave a little differently if I am using Firefox vs. Chrome but both seem to ignore any effort by me to log in or out - sometimes the system shows me logged in, sometimes not but no matter what it shows it still acts as though I am logged in (colored icons by each thread/message). While I am looking at a thread the icons get updated but as soon as I leave it they reset to "unread". The forum is basically unusable for me except to see what threads are active. I have to try to remember what I have read by myself. I had thought of asking for a new user-id but that apparently does not fix the problem based on this thread. According to what I can find Fudforum does not use cookies except to keep tract of whether or not a user is logged in. The rest of the record keeping must use the database on the server but I cannot find any info on that.
I am using an up-to-date Win7 system with Chrome. I have done all I can do with clearing cookies, caches, etc. with no joy.

I just did a logout/login test on Win 8h.1 Chrome. That worked fine.
The only problem I have is with the header being huge and having to scroll down the page below the break to get to the threads.

Interesting. I just logged in with my iPad and it is the first generation. (old) I can't say about logging out as I never do. I guess if someone broke into my house and wrote a message here, I will just have to apologize unless the person really knows GMC stuff.

My header was tall at first because the list of menu items(?) was listed vertically. That went away the first time I deleted (all) cookies. By the way, the system is letting me post even though it does not show me on the logged in users list right now.

I know there are no cookies involved with this problem because cookies are stored on your local machine. WHEN OPERATING PROPERLY I can switch between machines and the forum still knows where I left it last.
What baffles me is Eugene says he can not recreate the problems and I have it almost continuously. Occasionally it will mark and store something as read. I have read some postings as many as 4 times before it get marked as read and it stays read the next time I look a the thread. I sent Eugene a PM with my user id and password. I'm hoping that he uses it to sign on as me and to see the problem.
It is obvious to me that this is a server record keeping problem but I can not come up with what triggers the problem. I have tried marking all entries as read and the problem just comes back on new postings. What I haven't tried, is opening a new userid from scratch to see if that works.

That is interesting because your profile on this id says that you made this posting at 4:17 and logged out 3 minutes later at 4:20.

I'm having the similar problem, apparently I am logging in and out though as the "logged in users list" sometimes lists me and sometimes doesn't but the top icon always shows "Logout [GMC Cruse]".
The "logged in users list" did not list me as "logged in" when I hit the reply icon on to post this but the "login/log out" icon at the top of the page showed "Logout [GMC Cruse]" yet I am able to post this.
There seems to be too many of use having similar problems for it to be our computers.

Update:
On my laptop, I installed the Chrome extension Http Switchboard and used it to disable all CSS and scripting files for the forum. These files can be notoriuosly hard to break caching. I then re-enabled them (except for the ad banner) and my formatting problem was resolved.

Curiously, when I later went to the forum on the ipad, I was now required to login. Login worked. I did another logout/login routine. That worked. I don't know if the sysadmins have made any changes, so this may be coincidental.

Looks like the sysadmins have made changes. Up top it now said "Log In" instead of "Log Out {GMC Cruse}". I logged in to post this and will now try to log out.

Starting yesterday evening, I cannot login on the ipad. And on the Chrome/Win8.1 laptop I'm having to login every time I want to post to a thread even if already logged in.

I'm also having problems logging in both from an iphone and from my kindle fire (chrome based browser). My work computer, which is an ancient XP machine, has no problems.

In Chrome I cannot log in and it doesn't show which messages have been read, however everything works fine in Internet Explorer (unfortunately I hate Internet Explorer). I am also not being notified via email of private messages.

I watched listserv distribution of forum posts all day Tuesday. It was hit-or-miss, I'd say about 20% of posts failed to be distributed. It was pretty good yesterday but I wasn't tracking it all that closely ...just no glaring failures (like my own forum posts not getting to me).
I figure the sysadmins have enough on their hands with the login & display issues and I was also hoping that the email problem might be due to the other issues. Anyway, I can confirm that something's been screwy with email from the server.

Yes there is something strange going on with logins. I'm helping someone remotely with an ipad using I assume Safari. He can not get in. He sent me his id and password and I can get in using XP and Firefox.
So I tried the same thing on my android tablet using the android browser and chrome. I can not get logged in as either him or me using either browser.
