Found an interesting fact out about my Dodge rims I have on the front with the large AT goodriches. Granted they did help with the steering but I still have had all the symptoms of rut wander, just not as bad, and after the last 500 mile jaunt last weekend it all makes since after battling 2 hours of it on rutted out I75 in north Florida, I decided to came back the back roads which for the most part are in really flat shape and the drive was totally different. Got home and measured and found there is still 3 inches difference between the inside of the front tires and the rear. 1 inch was gained with these rims and tires, now the outside are an exact match though. My thinking is the inside is much more important than the outside. The Dodge rims and wider tires are what you need for wet grass and sand but I guess I'll be going back to the stock as soon as I can save up for get the spacers or another thought, has anyone ever run Dodge rims with spacers? The rear treads were 6 3/4 wide and the front treads were 8 1/4 wide. I wonder kind of a strain the extra 2" with the dodge rims be on stock bearings.

Skip,
I have been running Dodge 16" X 8" rims with 255/70R16 BFGs (no spacers) for about five years now. I have been to the west coast, Salt Lake, San Antonio, Shawnee, OK, and all over Arizona on them with little or no rut run issues. Some parts of I-10 that I drive on are pretty bad. I would be looking for other causes for this if I were you.

I don't know about the dodge rim issue but as far as steering and wander, my coach was all over the road until I got the correct ride height set. Now while in travel mode I can control it with one finger - if I wanted to!
I am running 16" Eagle rims with 225/75R16 Goodrich Commercial T/A's, stock front end, no spacers.

Skip,
JimK has been selling 2" front wheel spacers for donkey's years and AFAIK there hasn't been a problem with the extra loading on the
bearings. It has been noted that spacing the front wheels out will exacerbate steering issues.

Once you move the wheel centerline outside of the imaginary line between the ball joints (axis) you will get torque steer and bump steer. And increased parts loading. Physics. .

I have been running the dodge rims for a couple years now. I love them for a few reasons. Lighter then steel rims. they look cool.
In my memory, when I installed them I thought they they drive better.
I agree with Chris that you should look at other steering components for your rut wander. (wore rear bogie pins??)
